I think I'll use a local coin, the hole in the middle is just over 3mm, should be perfect: 1-krone coin - Norges Bank. Maybe you guys have some coins with holes that'll work too.

angelos, ever get to see the 405's?

I PM'd him about those a few days ago. Apparently they'll be better than the S06J series we have. There is both 3.8 and 5.6 models, and he's hoping one will be better than the other. The only problem is they are very expensive, so we probably wont have a GB for them. There's also a new 638 diode he's mentioned, but I don't know much about that either.

I think I got the gist of the PM, I'll take a look at it again in a minute.

Yes Thats Basically it. The Samples were Expensive. More then you would pay for the Burner brand New. ~~250$ for the 5.6mm and ~300$ for the 3.8mm.

However outside of samples they would be 40$-50$ IF i can GB them or are even worth it.. If they're worth the power increase then sure it will be an OK price, if there not and still equal to the 12x now then there is No point to get them.

Since i never ask for money from others when i do my testing i dont like to rush things. As you can Imagine loosing a 300$ diode with something stupid as over looking something.

i just dont have the time to setup testing right now. These Reds Are totally different and Much Easier to look at.

I will for sure open a New Thread when I do test them. I promise.:)

I was wondering if those are the same: Aliexpress.com : Buy 2pcs lot Mistubishi 640nm 648nm Orange Red Laser Diode LD ML229U7 180MW from Reliable ML229U7 suppliers on Wuhan Laserlands Laser Equipment Co., ltd.

If so you overdrive it to 3x the rated current?! :wtf:

(and also it would be 12$ a piece man!!:D)

No that is not the Diode..

You cannot find the original Diode's anymore. IT was Old Surplus stock.

In fact that is my picture they are using for there ad.

That diode is an Old Diode from back in the day. Its worse then the Dual WL ones.

and NO its $$25.40 a piece if you buy 100pcs.!

Dont waste your money.

Also What is your point about Overdriving.?

Every diode we use on this forum is over driven more or less.

This thread is Like 6 months old.

Thanks man i was going to buy them ! haha

and I'm not against overdriving its the exciting part to see how much power you can get!

(old thread:thinking: sorry)

It sounded as you thought that lazeerer is crazy pushing the current. He clarified that it is a common practice that we push diodes over the recommended datasheet current.

I wrote it cause i found the datasheet of the diode I though it was lazeerers.
There it would have been 3 times the max rated current so I was just wondering
BUT
That's not lazeerers diode so I suggested it based on this mistake sorry!

color gamut for rgb projectors is improved with 660nm over 638.

But why 658 in a pico? Wouldn't they go with a more visible, less heat route and use 635's? I feel using high powered 658's would be much more inefficient.

Nothing wrong with a necro if it adds to the discussion. As long as it isn't "cool" or "neat"

Yea and swami is a very welcomed member here and over there.

I'm sorry If anyone felt attacked personally this was not against him or so.
I also see that it's not bad to post in old threads if you have something new and relevant.

At this point one has to decide whether it's reasonable to reply to a simple short question with not really new infos like I valued it in this case.

My post was not meant to criticize swami in first place. I know that little mistake too well by myself when I'm browsing random old threads.

I wanted to stop what happens normally after such a post.

I experienced that much people just because it's under new posts think the whole subject discussed in the thread is new and then start discussing a dead thing like those diodes which will not likely appear again.

Also if it's an big thread like this many of us like myself will get a notation in the subscriptions with nothing really happened on this subject.

I hope you all get my exact thoughts a bit clearer now so that nobody feels attacked if ever did

You replied to the 'necro' post with this:

STAWP NOW ITS NECRO!:tsk:

Now you say this in response:

Kind of hard to say you weren't yelling at him for bumping an old thread.

I like to browse the forums, but it's hard when not that many people are active like it used to be. The way I see it, if anyone has anything new to add to an old topic that could be worth reading to other people, I welcome it for more reading material.
