Default Need hepl on identifying diodes, pins

Hello! I have harvested two diodes from ND-3550A DVD/CD burner. The problem is that i don`t understand which pins need to be connected to the positive/negative terminals. I might even be mistaken identifying diodes. As far as i understand on the right is the red-laser diode and on the left the IR diode. The laser diode has all pins in one row and that confused me.

P.S sorry for my English

ok, only the diode on the left is a 5.6mm (standard format) laser diode. Imagine a Triangle with the top on the right side and the longest side on the left ( middle of laser diode). Now the upper pin is positive, the right pin is case and negative and the bottom pin is the (mostly unused) photo diode pin.

For the flat plastic diode try center pin positive, one of the outer pins negative. Worked for me once, but Iīm not too sure of this, so donīt blame me if its wrong ;-)

Ok, so imagine this is the back of your diode with the pins. The black dots are the pins:

Thanks, but as you can see the problem is with the laser which has 3 in a row pins I understand the standard laser pin-outs, but that is the IR laser and has no use to me (except if have mistaken).

It is the IR, but the flat reds I have look differently that that one. BUT, the center pin is negative, one of the outers is positive, it won't hurt the diode to connect a driver to it, then connect power to neg and then the unused, no effect. So just try to two outer pins for the positive connection

jellies diagram is ok. should be the same with those diodes.

It's that same pinout for IR and Red. It changes with blu-ray though.

EDIT: I just looked at the pic that shows the front. This is very bizzare, the heatsinking look very familiar to an SmOC red diode, however it's a flat red. Was there anything else attached to the diode/heatsink? A lens, more heatsink, etc. Did you trim it at all before taking that pic? Or is that the pic right out of the sled?
