If it's that hard, I don't think I'll build one of these as my second laser..
Haha, truly, this host is a PAIN IN THE ASS!

Man, everyone is trying to bite jayrobs style. :p
I'm pretty sure i was the first one to build a blu-ray (besides jayrob) and an open can in this host... ::)
Mounting them in pen hosts...now that's a pain, with the button and all.... :p

Personally, i would say this host is more frustrating...

It's not that hard. Just don't use thick wire, use wire that's as thin as possible so you can bend them!
i prefer using telephone cord wire , specially if there's nothing else around

Could you essentially do 420ma with 3 AAA's without having to add extra's to the Driver for voltage regulation?
I have a rckstr driver on the way and my host holds 3 AAA's .

You're going to need at least 5.2 volts for a Rkcstr and a red diode. Three AAA's is only 4.5 volts. You can go with two 10440's and a dummy in the battery carriage for this combination.

Lets say i wanted to take out the battery pack ( instead of using the 10440's ) and make room for a different home made battery pack. Are there any commercially available options for the right voltage ?

You can use 3 x AAA primaries with a flexdrive.

Only problem is i am using a rkcstr driver. So i need more than 4.5volts. I am looking for something available maybe at stores around where i live instead of having to order them over the net i could build a new battery pack. Just need at-least 5.2 volts as stated by Daquin.

Order from here! This is in the U.S., so no China shipping :D

Looks like a nice clean build. Good job! I'm looking forward to building my first, just spending time reading thru the threads and trying to absorb some knowledge. However, knowledge and skill are two entirely different things. :-/

Yea, unfortunately you are correct... :-/
I'm sure you'll get it though :)
