Hi everyone!! after a few years knowing about the existence of lasers, I'm ready for build my first killer machine xD :lasergun:

I'm thinking in a modulable power laser, with 5 states:
Lp, arround 20mw
Lp-Mp, arround 100mw
Mp, arround 200mw
Mp-Hp, arround 275mw
Hp, arround 300mw

All these states can be controled with a DIP Switch, connected to 5 resistors of 12 ohm wired to Lm317.
The diode is going to be a lpc-826 in a plastic case, lab style. Looks awesome :cool:

Looks like a cool project, I would change the batteries to 2 x3.7v lithium batteries.
On your heat sink I can probably machine you something a little better than the one on eBay. Maybe something with a flat bottom.

Wicked budget build, variable power will be awesome too. Get some great duty cycles on low power :D

+1 on getting a better heatsink

im on the slow boat to china of knowledge myself and this is a super cleanly laid out build! I wanted to harvest a diode myself from a dvd burner but this option looks really good too.. and cheap wow. ide love to see more pics and updates!!!

Ok, peltier out (too much consumiption). I'm thinking in put a fan, but are rated on 12V. And the batteries, I will put 2 CR16340. I think that they're going to burn the diode
