there are a few answers to your question.

1. new diode (contact modwerx)
2. new lens (contact jayrob)
3. new driver/ mA increase (contact the search option) will shorten your laser life

I'm not sure the extra voltage of the batteries will give any extra output. I thought it just increases the heat output of your diode?

I think the current is what controls the photon output. I'm no driver expert but i think the driver will limit the current you can feed to your diode and unless the stock driver has a pot, your going to need a new one to increase output.

I am open to anyone who wants to tell me I am wrong.

You are quite right, however the dilda is an exception. The dilda isn't entirely regulated. So the current will increase with added voltage. It could be pot modded as well I believe. A high quality lens is the better route though.

My "new style" red Dilda output is the same with 3.0V or 3.6V batteries.

Maybe you're thinking about the older style, and the drivers are different?
