So is the general consensus that the 826 is the highest power/best quality 650-660nm red and current should be set at about 500mA?

I'm seeing LAZEERER's tests of the LPC-836 as having insanely high currents with o real gain in mW output and if I recall,me said there were wings with the LPC-836 dot.

The LPC-826 has a Gaussian dot?

I'm going to order a couple of drivers at 500mW and a couple of LPC-826's unless someone jumps in with a better idea.

ALSO, how much heat sinking do the LPC-826's need at ~500mA?

Thanks!!!!

Great idea, good luck !

Just normal heatsinking will do. That is diode + Aixiz module + any heatsink.
I use 500mA LPC-826 in my C3 host without a problem.

They need as much heatsinking as you can give them. Don't under shoot heatsinking. Always overshoot it.

I think you mean buying a driver at 500mA, not mW :p

I've used quite a few 826's and I think that 500mA is really the absolute maximum you can push it. It will probably degrade noticeably faster than any other operable current for the diode.

I've had an 826 @ 475mA for a while now. It runs great.

If I may put in a request, make some nice graphs if at all possible.

If you can compensate on 10~15mW's then i would suggest the ABSO-Friggin_LUTE-MAX is 440~450mA..
Though 400mA is quite a decent current, and beam specs and laser durability drastically increases..
I have been running my reds and killing them a lot by pushing them , one of them did survive a 600mA (LPC-815) for three months.. (2+hours)

HEATSINKING ~ if u plan to push it, use a copper module and a decent heatsink and see it live forever at 500mA!!

Just to let you know guys i have ran all my 826 diodes at 510mA in those Tiny little 660nm laser i was selling and i made over 50 of them. I did not have 1 death during the builds or did i ever get 1 back to replace the diode.

That was more then enough testing IMO to call the 826 just find at 500mA.

I cant say the same for the 836.
Looking forward to your testing.

Lasereer what driver did you use in those and are there any more available?

LAZEERER can step in and correct me if I am wrong, but I have had conversations with him and I believe that more often than not, LAZEERER builds his own drivers with custom modes.

He and I have discussed this before. :D

Thanks for posting the questions tsteele93, I had the same question regarding max current!

Yeah, I know that stuff is searchable and I do try and search but some times I end up with a two year old thread and I don't know if things have changed, etc.

An lpc-826 for 12.99 has to be the best bargain in laser building!! So would i be ok to order a JAD kit from Moh set at 400ma for this diode?

Absolutely, It can be run upto 500mA without any problems.. Lazeerer has been running them at 510mA in his pen builds so it will perform even better in a C6..

Ok Thanks! Do I need a lense for this diode? Also would focusing be a good idea?

You always need a lens for the diode to make a laser.

Ok so where or how do i get a lense for this diode? The lense option on Mohs site says 445 lense but is there a difference?
