Hi everyone, just wanted to share my recent LPC-826 build in a "pocket pal" look alike host. The host is anodized red, and looks really metallic and good. I also have a blue version of the host for a future bluray build, so they will be like twins.

the laser will be available to buy as soon as i finish my bluray build in the blue host.

It was a very tough first build for me, the host needed lots of drilling out cause the inside had a sort of lip, and this made it impossible for the heatsink to go in, so I sanded it out with my dremel, but on one occasion, the dremel slipped and I scratched the host pretty badly.

anyway, it works in the end, and it works fine, it does look pretty ugly inside, cause I soldered on the spring myself and used thermal epoxy for the first time in my life, but like I said, it works brilliantly.

It's being driven at 456mA by a Ghostdrive2, which means it should be outputting about 300mw, but I'm still waiting on my 10440 batteries, so at the moment I'm using 3 AAA batteries.

Now onto the pictures. I apologize in advance for the rubbish quality, but the only camera I have access to right now is the camera built into my laptop.

Here is the scratch I was talking about.... EDIT: got my decal from nick today, used it to cover up the scratch, so it looks better now

Excuse the fact I'm using the blue host's tailcap, the red one is broken, I will get a replacement soon

Lastly, a big thank you to:
Blord: for providing the diode

Nice one man! +1 for your first

Did you heatsink the driver? I remember that at 470mA it gets boilling hot even with the coin mod :p

yeah, you sure bet i did. the heatsink i used for the diode was actually quite big, as you can see it sticks out quite a lot, the whole host is about 10cm long, and the heatsink is 4cm! there was lots of space in there, even with the diode in the aixiz head fitted in corectly, so i thermal epoxied the driver with the hotter side inside the hole.

i agree with you, that driver got bloody hot as hell, it was so hot at one point one of the components fell off cause the solder joint melted, but i soldered it back on properly securely and then thermal epoxied it, so it should be good

oh you mean more of a memory thing. no, i dont really mind selling it, im planning on leaving he hobby, mostly cause im worried about my eyes, got a blind somewhere, my eyes have never been the same since i got into lasers. i still got a 100mw green, need to fix that up though, as i pulled the collimating lens off, so need to align it

No no no. You don't sell your first build because it's probably pretty unreliable. And you won't be able to get as much out of it as you put in. That laser will probably go for no more than $40.
