I wanna make a red again, and the last time I ever had one I had used a Pioneer 20x. So what is the best red now? I'm thinking of getting the 6x, that way I'll have a 6x blu ray (yay!) AND a nice red!

BUT.. isn't the LPC the best red?

I'm two years behind here, I need some help lol:D

I've heard rumor that the long closed can found in 6x sleds can be pushed a little bit further than the long open can in LPC sleds... I don't have any data to back that up, just what I think I've overheard.

Otherwise, the two should be pretty similar.

pseudolobster;

I harvested a Long Closed Can diode about a week ago...
that also appears brighter than my LOC diode @ the same current.

It has a different appearance from any Red diode I have seen before.

I graphed one a few months back and killed it at around 430mA's, but I don't know if anybody has done anything else with those long closed cans since...

For sure they are a nice red diode. I don't think they are quite as good as a long open can, but close. I have one at 395mA's, which is what I feel is a good spot for it.

This gives you around 225mW's with an AixiZ acrylic. (back opened) I have one of my Meredith glass 'fit for AixiZ' lens mods on it, and am getting 270mW's at that current...

So I could always de-can it, then it should be pretty similar to the LPC? I'll probably do that, then run it at 395mA or 400mA in the meredith module.
What's the best tool for removing the can?

I don't think you de-can it, the can is just closed and you use it as is.
