Hi to all

Im Theo, im from belgium and im 43 years old.

After looking trough this forum i thought this would be the best place to put my question.

Im looking for red laser modules 635nm, 1mw, class2 with ttl modulation.

Dimensions are not a problem, price should be normal.. Not the 225 euro models.

anyone any ideas? Ive seen the ones sold on ebay but they are 650nm.

Kindest regards

Hi Theo,

there should be some low prized modules available on the known market places like eBay. If you don't need high ttl switching frequencies (< 1kHz) a simple transistor (act as a simple switch) should do the job. For higher frequencies you'll need some high speed low current laser diode driver (e.g. available from Roithner Lasertechnik).

Since this is only 1mW, a simple transistor will probably work to 100kHz or more. Get a cheap 3mW module, and add a resistor to drop the current.

Tell us more about your project.

Hi..

Thank you for your thoughts so far.
Im building a remote switch that has an receiver in a normal room with normal environment lights.

I did the test with non modulated lasers and notised that the receiver reacts on all sorts of lights ...so the light makes the receiving end unstable.
At this point i tried to modulate a led at 30 to 40 khz... an in that way the other lights wont interfere the receiver.

But leds have no 3meter range without puttimg the whole room full of it..

So.. im looking for the laser. i tried ebay etc.. bought some 650nm modules but my receiving end is more sensitive on lower frequency laserlight.

Could also be 532nm but these are also hard to find in 1mw class 2

it needs to be in a room full of people so i dont want to use any modules out of the class2 range..

Hopes this explains a bit...

Kind regards

You are right regarding the remote control. But in this area i have to much overkill of several lights. They interfere extremely on the receiver part. That makes the switching part real unrelieable... the laser will solve that ...no doubt because the intensity is way better than the led light @ 3meters

But see, that is exactly why the transmitter is modulated. The ambient lighting is not, so that makes it easy for the receiver to filter it out.

Hmmmm perhaps you are right.. we did some tests and we cannot get it to work properly at 4 to 5 meters... not with a single led , not with 10 leds , not with 10 extra bright leds...

as soon as we switch on the ambient lights or sunlight gets in the behavior of the receiver gets funny and un reliable...

For 1mw, all you need is this:
33932d1312900879-ttl-capable-driver-based-2-lm317-2-ddl-drivers-possible-modulatable-constant-current-1c.jpg

2 transistors are going to be way faster than almost any driver IC.
