I got two LCC's from 6x sleds and both died at 400ma in about a week!

Bottomline: If you have them use them, if you don't have them buy LOC's instead.

What driver were you using? What heatsinking were you using? Also, what duty cycle were you running them at?

I was using a new side button (jayrobs kit) which is the one you used for your 8x, my duty cycle was two minutes max and 1 minute off.

Maybe check if it was really long closed can? You've said it died, so what you gonna lost? Open cans and check it out.

I've had nothing but success with LCCs. I love those things, I never have randoms deaths like I get with the LOCs. My dildas have lasted over a year of heavy use ;) and they don't have the best drivers either.

I run one at almost 400mA in my RGV for up to 30 minutes without any duty cycle, and it haven't died since I made it.

i COMPLETELY agree. LCC's blow nads.

LOC's kick their ass at 420mAh ANYWAYS... Long live LOC's... but i want one of those new 0.5W sony reds i keep hearing about....runs on 700-800mAh.... :drool:

I must say that I have had nothing but success with LCC and nothing but failures with LOC. I have my personal red set at 300mW and it is running fine in a pen style host and has been doing so for the past 6 months. But I guess diodes are just as unique as the people who kill them.

Assuming a Dilda runs a LCC, I'd have to agree with Styro. I've beat the crap out of that diode and it comes back for more.

I'd like to find out where I can buy them.

I have 4 extra of them...

Easily worth $10 each. You should have no trouble selling those.

I used the think LCC's were the greatest but after many failing after a very short time I have completely switched to LOC's. Although they aren't the worst reds around they are definitely not the best.
