I put this together a couple of months ago and has quickly become my favorite star party laser due to the razor sharp low divergence beam and night vision preservation. Estimated output is 200mW. The host does become warm after a few minutes, so its doing its job very well.

LCC from GGW sled (diode on right):

My DIY switcher driver set to 417mA:

Now the sexy host:

Obligatory beam-shots(DSLRs are very red sensative, the beam is much tighter than pictured):

Thanks! This version is even smaller, but its still a little bigger than microflex/boost:

Where did you get that driver?

+1 on the build.

Seriously? you must have had the boards made for you tho, thier clearly factory made?

Yes, I got the PCB's done at a board house. I have no desire whatsoever to venture into etching my own PCBs.

Haha, at first i thought the driver was sitting next to a quarter :yabbem:

I think you should put those drivers up for sale :)

I may in small batches(those switchers parts are too expensive to float in larger quantities), what shape do you all prefer ... Round or rectangular?

Great work jib77. Hey join the astronomy social group here on LPF. Post some photos of your telescope.

Gotta say I love that host, and driver is tiny. I think the shape you had your driver made in works great. An octogon makes it usable in almost any scenario.

Nice laser!
The silver host and the red output look very attractive!
