I have an old rostar laptop not sure what year it is but it has windows 95 on it. I was wondering if I could make a burnig red laser out of the cd driver. How many ma could I give it?

A cd player is probably <5mW 780nm IR, it would be basically useless as anything... AND since it's from a laptop, it's probably some strange tiny diode...

It'll be a 5mW square shaped 780nm NIR diode, pretty useless.
