I have to say I am impressed with this thing. It looks about 2-3 times brighter than my ordinary 3-5mw 650 nm pointers and you can see a slight beam in the night sky when looking down the laser. Additionally it has a clicky constant on/off which is a big plus imo because I don't like momentary push button switches. It also takes normal easy to find AAA batteries.

Alone the dot doesn't look orange. It is a very bright and easily noticeable red color. You need to look at the dot alongside a 650nm dot on the wall to really notice the slight orange color.

I had one of these once also - it was a good red pointer. Gave it to my little brother. Like being able to focus the pointer.

(click on 'red beam lasers' (left) then click on 'highest power' to get to 'BTE-4')

I have the AN 635nm red.  It is still red, but its brightness makes it seem more orange.  The redness is more apparent if you defocus or scatter the beam.

635nm is awesome. Too bad 635nm diodes get expensive quickly as they go up in power.
