How to check laser output?

I am just an interested consumer not a technician.

I just bought my first low level laser device on ebay, this one - Home Laser Cold Sore Blemish Wrinkles Acne Scars Skin Treatment Machine Device | eBay

But much cheaper than that price!
Power output: max. 6mW
Laser wavelength: 635-670nm

I bought it cos I am interested in testing Low Level Laser therapy and that output seems to be the minimum to achieve a therapeutic effect.

My point is that I also have one of those excellent laser pointer/torch pens and the beam from that seems to be brighter than the bigger therapy version, and the spot is the same size!
Unfortunately there is no label on the pen and I bought it a year or so ago so maybe it is stronger than the usual 1mW pens (another laser pointer pen I have is labelled as 1mW and is slightly dimmer than its brother).

Does the brightness make a difference? I would assume that the more powerful spec should be brighter? Is there any way to check output? For all I know the one I just bought could be a con.

And finally does this one seem good? The Biobeam 940 - BioBeam940(Kenkowave)Pain Relief Infrared Light Therapy | eBay

Sorry if I am not explaining well!

^ditto :yh:

I think you can buy one for under $100.
It will measure the output of your laser.

Only problem I have with the radiant is that it has a bit of trouble picking up laser powers under 5mw.
