Hello,
I just took my diode from my DVD burner, and I dont know how much MW is.
I dont know the speed of the burner, but the diode is very powerful.
How can I know how much MW it is?

I sure thet the DVD is not 20X.
I think thet is 8X or 4X, how can I chck or another way to know what is the MW or the DVD burner speed?

tnx!

recently i took out a dvd diode it diddn't like more then 200 mA and it died :)

so keep yours under 100 mA , drive it to far and you can see the diode raw output changing

( thet shape shanges when your not using a lens )
and that way you can tell that your pushing it to far

+ i am not sure when red lasers start to burn when focused , i think arround 50 mW starting to burn dark plastic

can you recommend to me a good driver for 16X DVD bruner diode?
tnx!

when you build a laser you need to take into account more than just i have a laser diode and a driver...

your host size and what batteries it takes determins what driver you need. if your battery configuration can only fit 1 battery you need a boost driver. if your host takes a lot of batteries than you probably need a linear driver.

boost drivers input max is usually <5vdc
linear drivers input min is usually 7.2vdc with a max input of 12-14vdc.

good luck

i couldn't find the input voltage of the ebay driver

and the o-like driver says it needs 4vdc in

so both are a no lol

nevo, do some more reading before you get started - there are a lot of links everywhere (especially in general) to help you out.

I just want a good driver for me, plz...
about the o-like, I can use more batteries to get 4.5V.
someone can give me plz link for a good driver? tnx!

First of all, it's not "180mA to 210 max" current,

You do not determine the power and current of the diode based on what speed drive did it come from.

Post a picture of your diode here and you'll get more help.

Generally there are short type diodes which go to 250mA maximum and long type diodes at 450mA max (for long life, can be pushed further but no guarantees).

Oh well i don´t knwo to much about dvd diodes from unknown burners so i guess it was safe to say 180mA

he probably will blow his dvd diode and then we can give him the link to o-like LPC-826

If you do not know what you are talking about then don't speak. Best to stay quiet instead of removing all doubt and all that.

Besides, it is his diode and I'm sure he would rather not "blow" it. So, once again, if you don't know what you are talking about please stay quiet and wait for an answer from someone who does. Especially when damage may occur to someone's property from your bad advice.

:thanks:
