Not a laser, but a lot of power input in this build.

The PT54 LED is from our favorite C_s_o Projector.

It is rated @ 8 amps, but in a handheld host that is too much.

I decided to operate @ 3 amps, for a total input of 12 watts.

The first requirement was cutting the solid copper base to fit the pill inner diameter of 22mm.

After cutting and rounding the corners and final deburring it was ready for an insulator and the pill. This was the final result:

The next step was placing the reflector to capture all the Red light from the Flat LED.
Here is the reflector placement:

Finally a quick beam shot from about 6 feet away:

The intense red center was about 2 feet in diameter.

This is the host with finned heatsink, I used for this light:

I finished this build for the DFW Laser & Flashlight Spring Fling meeting,
coming up this weekend in Arlington.

My new 12X BR (BDR-S06J) in the same host will also be shown.

Mind i ask. What reflector did you use to fit that LED.? It looks like a Perfect fit.

where did you get that host?

I buy large quantities of this host for UV lights I build for customers.

The UV lights are 7 watts (LED input).

I like the appearance of it.

The deep reflector is from the host.

larry what driver did you use for this one
Sweeet build I been thinking about doing this very same thing ;)

How difficult is it, to look into the flashlight from ~6 feet away ? I'm imagining a painful blast. Great design, structurally and aesthetically.

Couldn't imagine what a blast from the 6 watt UV would be like.(input power) Great for fluorescing minerals/luminol w/blood etc. for CSI.

I used a driver with eight 7135 IC's that sinks 2900ma from the Red LED.

The light does get warm after a couple of minutes of operation.

You need plenty of heaksinking.

You don't want to look into the red beam.

Green circles will be in your vision for a while.

The 7 watt UV lights are used for finding pet urine stains, scorpions, forensic work, activating adhesives, and removing stains.

Wow, great builds! I always wondered what to do with the phatlight leds. And I just love the look of that host
Larry, can you reveal the source for the host? Or do you sell them yourself? Which type of battery do they use?

chefla;

The host takes an #18650 cell, of course.

I sell them for $44.95 with a quality Sanyo or LG brand 2600mah cell,

or $34.95 for host only.

I chose this host for the heatsinking and the appearance.

The finned heatsink is included as part of the host.

On my 445nm and 12X BR, the Aixiz module is mounted on the aluminum heatsink.

ON the heatsink? How is that? Do you mean, sitting on top of it like an led emitter? I figured you would have drilled a dia 12 hole in it and mounted the aixiz inside. Can I see a picture please?

chefla;

Here is a photo of the Aixiz module on the 12X Blu-Ray.

Nice work, I am inspired and will be doing a very similar build in the very near future. Just been messing with my led in the garage and at 7A this thing really is blinding. Gotta be really careful not to accidentally peer into the emitter.
