I guess you could use a red MXDL pen like the one DTR used. Just send off your aixiz module to someone with a lathe so it can be cut down to size.

Murder diodes arrived today. Testing on the first is done. I should have time to test the second by Friday night. It doesn't LED even at very high current; it drops in power with increased current a lot like the ebay "false alarm 638" a few weeks ago. There does seem to be some degradation though that results in a permanent power loss of ~30%.

Sounds like the 445nm diodes.
