First...I kow how strange it must be for some to read that I'm looking for anything under 100 mW...but My cats absolutely LOVE chasing my 2-3mW red pointers around....

Problem is that most of these use button cells that have terrible capacity issues!

I really want a nice <5mW red that uses cells with more OOMMPPHH over the long haul, and are easier to find in the grocery store.

Something on AA preferred, but AAA is fine as well...

I was thinking about building my own...but it would be massive overkill for a cat toy!

<5mw a MUST....no Blind Kitties here!

I am going to post this in the "buy sell trade" section...If that violates any rules..Mods..please delete....

I never thought it would be this hard to find a red that has the features I need!

Thanks in advance!!

you could attach a couple AA to an AixiZ module.

AtlasNova has two nice 5mW reds that run off of AAA's, The 650nm is $12 and the 635nm is ~$20 IIRC.

Yes, Larry, it's strange you want something so...little.  But it makes perfect sense for kitty playtime.

I'd go with Atlasnova.  Excellent build, long battery life.  They seem to test right around 3mW so it's fairly safe for exercising your kitty. It all depends if you want the standard brightness or extra bright without the extra mW. I have the 635nm model and it's plenty bright.

Most <5mW reds that you can buy use little watch size batteries that can be found most places.
