I CANT SODER ROFL i try, the soder just keeps moving everywhere and can get go where i want

sorry about the pics lasers, ill take a better one with my ACTUAL camera, i used a 1999 webcam so yeah

anyways, you got any idea how to test this driver out

i have a multimeter but no test load driver

i was wondering how i would measure the output of the driver with my DMM

do i connect the batteries and then place my DMM and set it to mA and touch the end of the driver where the diode is suppose to go?

1) Get better Photos...
2) Get Rosin flux or Rosin Core Solder...
3) Get a Test Load or make one...

Then we will tell you how to test the output of your driver...
that has been posted over a hundred times already... ::)

you may need some solder flux or flux core solder i try to tin each connection i am joining togather somtimes sanding leads with fine sandpaper also helps  ;) after a while it gets easier your doing great

well, if you want, you can connect the batteries to your driver, then measure the current at the other end like what you said. But, if your DMM can't take more than 200mA then I'd advise no. Mine can take up to 10A for 10 secs, so I have no problem doing that. Also, I hope you know how to use the DMM properly, since, when measuring current, you may have to switch the connections on the DMM itself.

For the soldering, it looks like you are using too much solder. Have you seen the video on how to solder? It sure helps, even for us who think we already know how to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_NU2ruzyc4

thanks guys, yeah i realised i added too much soder =[

anyways... my DMM can handle 10A but it doesnt seem like i get an output, but when i set my measurement to volts, i see 6v =[

no load = no current. build a test load of 4 diodes in series.

i have the diodes, just no 1 ohm resistor =[ ran outa money
Take back a couple of empty bottles for the deposit and you can get a 1 Ohm resistor...
they cost about $0.05 to $0.10... ::) ;D

Otherwise, hook the 4 diodes up in series to the positive side of your driver output and use your multimeter to bridge the gap between the diodes and the neg pin of your driver, set it to measure amps, and away you go.

pseudolobster, the batt in your diagram is connected the wrong way round :p The positive is always the longer line.

Anyway, you don't need the 4 diodes as a load. The DMM acts as one already. Of course with the four diodes, the guage is better, but if you just want to check whether the circuit works, you can use the DMM set to current setting (try using the 10A one. You'll have to change some input for the wire on the DMM) and just connect the DMM to the output. Don't leave it there too long though, or either the DMM or the driver will fry. Especially if the current was more than 1A.

And yes, you need the battery to be connected to the driver to test it. You can't measure current from the driver if there is no power source in the first place putting out the current. The DMM cannot "estimate" the current output of the driver (in case you thought it that way). It can only measure what it receives.
