Hey everyone, i have been having problems with my build and am rethinking it. Maybe some of you saw my other posts. I was going to make a red laser with a mxdl 3xaaa and a flexdrive. when i found out that there wasn't going to be another flexdrive for 4 weeks I Decided to find a 6-AAA flashlight and use a rckstr driver. well i got my rckstr driver and a 16x diode that a got from build-a-blue-laser.com. i wasted my money there because it was 30 bucks when everything was said and done and i waited 4 weeks to get it. Don't order from there. well i finally got my diode and aixiz module. I attached the rckster driver at 270ma and it didn't work. it wouldn't burn a think and the dot was no brighter then a 5mw laser.  I then de-soldered the diode and put the test load back on to check the driver, it was find, then i put it back on to the diode and put the battery back on, the diode was dead.

So now i have decide to send back the 6-AAA flashlight because i looked through the forums and found a post made by greenhorn about the same flashlight. its apparently really difficult to get this flashlight to work well. So my question is if i get a mxdl that takes 2xcr123a batteries, will it work with the 3.6v rechargeables and the rckstr driver. Also i will be getting a 20x open can instead. If you guys have any other advice or suggestions, they would be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

Drain your cap before re-soldering on your diode. Me-thinks that's what killed it for you :-/ :-?

Yea i agree but that doesn't explain why it wasn't burning. Its dead now, no use in crying over spilled milk, learn from your mistakes and move on. i actually read after it died that i needed to short the driver when trying to look for answers of why it wasn't working. i then checked it with my DMM's diode check and i got a beeeeeeeeppppp.
