Hey All,

I Received my Diode today after Looking and asking every supplier that had them for some time i finally found one that said they had a few for single sale so i bought 1 right away.:)

I Just got it in so here is a few pictures of the diode. It looks pretty beefy compared to the 300mW version which I decaned one last night that was DOA.

Here is the DataSheet for the ML501P73 diode:

Ill be "Testing" For whatever i can and that i have available to me and thats MAX POWER and Hopefully get a graph up of at what currant equals what power. Also i will be testing divergence and Four different lenses out. The 405-G-1,405-G-2,AR Coated Acrylic and Aixiz Red.

SO Please remember this that i dont have the ability to test extensively so more details will come from a more experience member. This is all iam able to do at this time.:)

SO I would not really call this a test. But just being curious.:eg:

Here are my numbers for the Mitsubishi ML501P73 500mW 635nm/638nm diode.

Iam Using an AR Coated Acrylic Lens in these Results. THe Diode is in a Large heatsink then held in place with a vice. Iam unsure of the temperature of the heatsink as i dont have anything to test the temperature with.

Iam using my ophir Laser power meter.

Great ! We will get finally the results of this 500mW diode.
Hopefully the beamspec isn't worser than the 300mW. Maybe Better :D

Will this be a 1.5 W red?

We need some luck too. He may have gotten a diode that can handle 1.2 watts or a freak that does up to 2. Or hell it might only do 600. The suspense is killing me.

What was the source for this one? Is it that same low-feedback eBay seller that I ordered mine from ? (still en route)

I dint even know you where getting one.:)

PM me.

Also Guys Remember this is Not really testing. All Iam doing is just seeing the Max Power of the diode. I will most likely buy another to send to a member for testing or we can do like last time and do a GB for one or two and get them properly tested.

Please NOTE this.

That's a beautiful decanning job!

Also, two bond wires, so more current than reds, probalby not as much as 445s, but we can't really tell diameters.

Sorry, I am weak for macro shots or even just really nice pictures of small exposed electronic devices.

Lazeerer,

One thing I can tell you, is that these diodes are VERY temperature sensitive. Power can be dramatically increased if the thing is actively cooled. If you can keep the things slightly below room temp while at its max current, you should see some impressive numbers.

Good luck with testing, thanks for doing this!

Not sure how to graph it so thats what i have so far.:)

Here's what it looks like scale/super-imposed on Cyparagon's previous chart for the 300mW Mitsubishis. The YELLOW line is the new 500mW diode. Basically, it starts lasing a bit later, but takes a somewhat steeper climb upwards.
