Has anyone on this forum bought this red laser module, and if so, how is it? The ebay seller is engkerim34 and the item is "450mw 658nm burning/cutting laser module:". This is complete and ready to run with a driver circuit for 135-140 dollars or so. I asked the seller and he said it was focusable too and can be run on batteries from 12-20 volts DC. The module looks nice from the pictures also! Let me know your input before I buy this module...do you think this is for real 450mw!

Hmm looks cool. Wait for some of the pros to lurk by. They can give you a better idea if its worth it or not.

im not aware of any 450mw diodes, espically not for that price either.

could be being overdriven

With that type of case, 90% of probability that is a 9mm (or maybe a modified c-mount) half watt (or less) diode ..... maybe it can be "focused for burn", but i doubt it can have a decent thin beam for scanners ..... not without an optical corrective element addon, at least :p

But i cannot be sure ..... those aluminium cases was used for a lot of time for professional high power resistors, now they're using them also for lasers ..... and, ofcourse, is not a 635nm, it's a more common 658nm (so more cheap also as diode .....) can be interesting see the "inside" of one of them :eg: :p

Looking at the pictures you can see that the "labby" is really small (look at the ruler). If it's a C-Mount then I don't know how they corrected the beams in such small space.

Also, it says you can drive it to around 580mA...

450mW @ 580mA?

Hmm....I don't think so :(

It could be an overdriven LOC.

EDIT: HIMNL9 beat me to it...
