i figured as much. i was going for a 200 mW red burner to try it out before trying to build one (for reference burning)

any idea of the difference between the diodes in the DX 200 mW red and the sony 16x dvd burner they sell at stonetech?

I just swapped out the stock dilda diode with stonetek's sony diode last night actually.... along with his little driver (buy pre assembled, I have no idea how someone can build one)

I'm measuring power usage of it by what goes through the batteries with my multimeter, and have it set to 250ma right now (same the stock one was using) and the dot appears to be cleaner and a little brighter, but I know I can turn up the power more (the stock one didn't respond to me turning the pot)

the 16x sony would work great for a diy burner IMO
just read a lot on here to learn what you can about them if this is going to be your first build

I may have "the Last American Dilda".

ps, I was going to follow Rattleheads guide to make a "Megadilda", but now I may keep it OEM.



Edit: After only 30 seconds of use, I yanked out the guts & made it into a Megadilda ;)

i have not recieved mine yet so i might be the last one. ;D but i'd rather have mine right now. :mad:

My DX arrived today after one month wait. I am sure I have one of the last ones shipped to the USA.

Just wanted to say that after a little while of holding my breath, my laser has just shipped to the USA from DX

Status: On 9/10/2008: Shipped

I never got a paypal refund so I guess I just got really lucky

I'll let people know when I actually get it!

lets see if my payment gets refunded...lol when it gives the warning at checkout about not shipping to the us i just clicked "other countries" and paid like normal with my same shipping address. i wonder if they'll catch it... ;D

I would keep trying to order it. Mine just shipped the 10th and is currently on it's way to the USA

If mine slipped through, I'm sure others did and will too.
