EDITs :

5.4 amps, 5400ma seriously... :( not anymore. Driver issue... looks like 3 amps now

Do not parallel x-drives! It does not work! I am trying something different. Sorry to anyone who tried that. :(

no2 8 gram cartridge, outside venting, cooling system.

thermal adhesive strip temperature monitor.

spring loaded rapid focus lens system,

plentiful and cheap Sony Handycam batteries 8.4v 4500mah li-ion np-fv100

guitar pedal trigger switch with safety toggle

novelty safety lens front sight window (no substitute for goggles!)

hand tooled 6160 box with stainless Philips screws and a classic, memorable shape.

It is quite a lot of fun.
finally got the lens, the lens guide tube, and the heat sink rod.
Ordered the drivers tonight.
Also found a perfect battery, Sony camera 7.2v 4500mah NP-FV100 It is just about exact dimensions of the inside of the box. A way better choice than the 2 parallel 9v's with 1000mah.
This contest has definitely succeeded in its stated goal of getting people like me out of the woodwork.

Does it seem strange that The phrase laser luzy typed into google the other day brought this page up first in the list and now there is no sign of it... hmm. strange.

Should I lose the initial contest I will not be able to afford the diode and will have to shelf the project indefinitely.
