I'm really anxious. I actually really like yours too. I'm surprised that we are tied, to be honest. I guess we're both building laser guns, we're just designing different bits =p I designed the electronics in mine, you designed the host! We could have made an awesome team XD

You know!? I was saying the exact same thing earlier. Its a very strange and complex competition. What is bothering me is the whole 2 diode thing. and the lack of provision for a tie.

Hah, you were. And yes, I agree. But I love the spirit of competition. Has inspired some great builds. Also, those are bothering me too. Two diodes allowed? Wasn't sure that was part of the contest. And it's not fair, because he could already afford one :( And yes... what happens in the event of a tie? XD

EDIT: But even if we did team up... who would have gotten the diode? =-p

He still hasn't shown any pictures of the tridentis' beam. saying its too bright. Like he cant find a pair of dark sunglasses to take the photo through... Heh, or maybe it's more likely it just makes 3 beams that go in "kind of" the same direction... which would be painfully obvious in a picture.

The bright side is the diodes price should be falling relatively quickly. A couple of years should get the cost down to a reasonable level. I'm starting to look around for stuff to sell! ;)

Free!
I have begun making the battery adapter from hose clamp steel between two pieces of board screwed to a block of polymer. A battery diving board.

I have been busy. She is very nearly finished. Fills me with a vague sadness.

Thanks! It was a bit slippery. Couldn't have that.
I am looking into how much it would cost to make a run.
It is fairly complicated must be assembled in the proper order and required a lot of close fitting. Kind of like a gun. So it would probably be expensive like a gun.
Could be cheaper as a kit but would be very difficult and require hours of careful file work.
All of the tubes and boxes required fitting.

As a side point. I wasn't trying to design a Uzi shaped laser. I modified and improved the 445 box shown in my picture to the left to accommodate the c-mount and a reliable cooling system. When I finished the drawing I noticed the similarity and went with it by choosing that particular micro Uzi trigger guard and sights shape. The rear sight is entirely unnecessary except as a grip to better control the cooling cracker. The front and rear sight can be removed without effecting function. I added a switch in the battery compartment that makes it so you can turn one of the x-drives off to run it at 3600 if cooling cartridges are unavailable. 3600, HEHE turn it down! to 3600! hehe. Makes me a bit nervous.

I need the diode to adjust the focal lengths! Jimmyoneeye shouts in a dr. Strangelove voice

I've always actually liked the Uzi. I'm also intrigued by your cooling system. Looking forward to seeing it all come together
