Hi i saw this kit on ebay and it ships in the US so thats kinda cool! Burning Laser Bundle Kit 250-300mW, 660nm Red Diode, Driver, Blank Aixiz Module | eBay Looks like i would need two 16340s to finish it. What would be a good host to put this in? Also it mentions heatsinking the driver. How would i go about this. Im also open to put this in a project box. Any advice?

Hey, that kit looks familiar...

:D

1) So yeah, you're going to need a couple of li-ions to power it or a wallwart. Anything over 5.5V, just don't use a 9V battery.

2) It will work with pretty much any host that can hold two batteries. I've got one in a C6 host and it works awesome. The C6 is a pretty standard host for building lasers, so they are easy to get a hold of and there's lots of documentation on them. A project box would be fine as well.

3) As far as heatsinking goes, yes. :) Get yourself some two-part thermal epoxy, like Arctic Alumina, and attach the side of the driver with the IC and the resistors to a chunk of metal, or in the case of the C6, attach it to the pill.

4) Get the kit from my website. It's cheaper than on eBay. ;)
