I always wanted to build a nightstick laser since I seen them first come out. Like the sAik series builds, I will have some of these coming down the pike, but here is the first.:eg:
The new Oclaro diode I feel is slight upgrade above the Mit. 500mW... for one it's a little cleaner as far as background aberrations and for another it's a closed can.:wave: I can't say for sure, but I'm running mine at 1.6A and it seems to handle it well:eg::eg::eg: (heat output). I have a Mit. 500 in a big boy build and at over 1W and 1.5A that puts out a whole lotto heat . These where just observations not so scientific.
I used a moon shaped copper pad and some arctic ceramic adhesive to hold it all together. One of those sweet X-Drive CG set @1.6A:wave:
Then I used the lathe to cut a groove on the inside battery tube to move the contact board up enough to get 2 22500 batteries in there.
I thought about if I ever had to use this as a weapon and YES! I sure would. To a Flash blind and then a good knock. I don't make that statement lightly and would never take a life unless felt threatened to do so:bowdown:
Laseerer 635nm X-Lens :wave::can:
I took the readings using a 9mm lens... the X-lens lent to only 750mW and the 9mm took it up to 1.1W I will get a red G-2 when I can I'm betting that will really push up the output.:bowdown::bowdown:
The X-lens cuts all that splash right out. It really tames all the artifacts, but at the cost of some significant power.:undecided:
Well the thing weighs like a brick. I think it balanced pretty good though another top shelve build the host only ran me 16.00US from fleabay. I can say I love it so far and will be using another one for a build down the road:thanks:
As usual get out there and build one give me a shout out if you have any questions just ask:beer:
