Hi all,

I've been thinking about purchasing a class IV red laser. Green is so 5 years ago:)

Ebay has 1000mW 650nm and 300-500mW 635nm lasers.

Has anyone purchased these? Do you have some photos to share with us. Google doesnt show much pics when it comes to red lasers.

I would guess 300mW 635nm is close in brightness to 1000mW 650nm. I obviously want maximum brightness.

Thanks!!!!

B

Hi, sorry, but if you can at least post the links for those 500 and 1000 mW red lasers on ebay, someone can say you more easily if they are good or not ..... just cause, without links, other users cannot guess what lasers are you referring ..... ;)

It's going to give a square output, if you read the beam dimensions, it says "~5x8" while for other lasers it's just a single number for a round beam, although I could be wrong. It's also got <2.5mRad divergence, rather high, unfortunately. Here's a thread concerning the LG Orion, a 635nm high output portable, which is multi-mode as well. It's got some nice pictures of the output and color a few posts down. Best of luck in your search.

Edit: Forgot the link, sorry, it was 3:22am http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/hmm-laserglow-orion-hv-very-divergent-45802.html

Meh, its cheap and I want a labby, and a class IV laser, but I dont have the money for it now anyway.
My skylaser 808nm pointer has a square dot, looks cool IMO, but it also has a 7in focal point so it can still burn stuff very well, though that isnt why I bought it.
If anyone knows of any .5W and above red labbys for the same price let me know, ill check them out.

Hey everyone. I just purchased a 500mw 635nm from ebay for $670.. I'll let you all know when it arrives. I'll post some pics.
It'll take a few weeks as I requested analog modulation.

the problem with 635 is the beam size, its no good for scanning.

diodes are the way forward as small beams can be achieved.

642nm are a very good way forward just not very cheap.

My current scanning mirrors are 6x11. The beam 6-7mm. Yes, there will no doubt be some wastage. I may upgrade my mirrors to 7x11. But that's like 30 Euros excl shipping!!

gee thats big that will slow the scanners down big time. the trick is small beams and small scanner mirrors that way you get fast scanning.
