More to the point - I don't think your camera COULD be blind at that wavelength.

My understanding is that the IR-cut filter on almost every CCD (DSLR or otherwise) has a very sharp falloff almost exactly at 700nm. Like - cliff edge style sharp falloff.

I could be wrong - but I would be surprised if a camera went blind at say 680... since we *can* see that.

I mean... with bare eye I can see the dot pretty well, but the camera apparently is insensitive there. I'll try some match smoke.

EDIT: Match smoke made beam visible to bare eye, but this time, the camera's batteries went dead...

Kodak EasyShare CX7530 - a bit old, but it definitively takes excellent pictures - made my 532nm 50mW look like 500mW :na:

at 50mA, you should be seeing a lot. No, it wont be like 200mW of 650, but while my 685 at 45mW / 66mA doesn't blow me away, there's no missing it.

... You're not seeing ANYTHING? Something's wrong then. It's a dimmer red, but its nowhere near invisible. Hopefully the diode isn't dead.

Thanks lazeerer for the heads up about the 685 diodes, I put in for 2 sets myself.

Thanks rhd for the heads up on the 473 out of Utah, popped for one of those as well.

It's most likely up in the range your camera's IR filter is blocking it.

Anyone here want to sell one of their diodes? I know they are only $10 but I only want one.

Just got my second order in.:) It only took 2 Weeks to get to me this time.

I might pick up some more just to have. I think these diodes are a pretty rare wavelength and we might not have another chance to get them at this price.

Its more of Having a "different" wavelength in your collection then anything else for me.

PM sent

Also in response to lazeerer: I got the "1st batch" judging by the heatsinks

Cool.:) I pushed one to 53mA and their was a kink right there so i turned it back down to 52mA and left it there.

So i think i wont push it past 52mA. Iam getting 32mW out of this one with a AR coated Acrylic lens.

aryntha got one running at 66mA and 47mW. Iam Jealous:p

I have the 3 with my LM1117 driver set to 50mA, one is definitely a freak because it is a lot brighter than the others. Wish I had a calibrated LPM to test them with.

Really. :) Cool. Yea iam waiting to get my Hosts in the Mail. I hate waiting for overseas mail.:(

By the way KD decide to stop carrying or sold out of the host that i originally was going to get so i just went with this one.

2 Gray and 2 Blacks.

I like this one because it uses 2x AAA rather then the smaller one that only uses 1X AAA.

Witch is the one you are getting as you suggested in the First page.:)
