After doing some research, it turns out that the average human has about 5,000,000 hair follicles. We have the same amount per square centimeter as the great apes do, so in theory at least, my idea should be possible.

It would appear that over time, humans have lost the need for body hair except on the more sensitive areas of the body and on our heads because you loose so much body heat through your head. We live inside in heated buildings and we wear clothes, so over time we slowly lost our need for hair.

I wonder if this would make us smell bad and shed hair everywhere?

It has to be built first, I would need to move to a better location, I don't have room here for a proper laboratory. A proof of concept device would need to be built and tested before building a full prototype. I think it would cost a lot of money.

Just think of it, you would stay warmer in the cold and you wouldn't need to wear as much clothing. I wonder how many people would go for it? We could do the opposite of what Dr. Moreau tried to do. Instead of turning animals into human like creatures, we could turn humans into animals. In a few years time we could see the rise of the planet of the apes. :crackup:

I went ahead and bought some Eagle Pair which block 190-540/580-780, im not taking any chances.

To all those who've owned EP's. How visible would the dot of 100mW 655 be? Approximations are fine

I doubt you will need them too often, remember a lab laser plugs into the wall, so you won't be holding it in your hand pointing it all over the place, that greatly reduces the risk of an accident, however I look forward to hearing what it's burning capability is, nothing spectacular I expect, but it should be able to pop a balloon, at least a black one.

I wouldn't know the answer to your question except to say the dot will be very visible. Did you ever own a red laser before? Even a <5mW has a very visible dot.

I did own some reds in the past. A cheap $1 <1mW 650 and a 5mW Libra from LaserGlow!

I know a lab laser will be safer but I rather not risk my eyesight
