I wander how far the diode can be push if it has a decent heatsink. At 140mA it should equal the brightness of a LOC red diode.

I do not know how far it can be pushed but with just an aixiz module front half at 106ma it does not even get warm.

That extra cap is just to keep any spikes off the adj line as that is my reference voltage.

The main difference between the LM 317 and the LM 337 is the 337 is designed to be an adjustable negative voltage regulator. That is why I am using the ports backwards from what you expect and Vin is my ground. Basically it functions in reverse.

The entire reason I decided to look into it was to make a case where Batt+ and LD+ were the same pin. BTW that driver is small enough to fit inside an Aizix module.

Ah so if I understand correctly it's basically what the LM317 does but on the negative side instead of positive which allows you to do a case positive build and not have to isolate the module. I like it!

That's a nice clean build and driver circuit!

Thankyou I think I might have one of the first LM337 driven pointers on the site if not the first.

Yea it is a negative voltage (think negative temperature) regulator

I have to admit this along with my ~20mw 445 are my favorite. Not so powerful that you cannot use them indoors but you can still make out the beam in the dark. Btw with a full charge at 106 ma this 635 puts out ~49mw through a glass lens. I really wish I bought 2 so I could push a second diode.
