Looks like they took my offer for $20 as well. I guess time for another pen build i am thinking to-92 lm317 with 2 AAA sized lithium.

Great find, what is the nominal current for 40mW ?

***nevermind*** I look for myself on that pdf file :D

Ok I just finished my micro lm317 driver for ~ 100ma really about 96 but it will fit in a pen and that is what I care about.

40mW 635nm should be as bright or brighter than 200mW 660nm right? Also, are these single mode?

According to the CIE tables, 660nm is 40lm/W, and 635 is 140lm/W. So about 40mW of 635 should be as bright as 130mW of 660.

what about the peceived brightness. in my scanner i will be using 2 LOC's that are about 250mw. so after combining and other loss will see hopefully 400-450mw. but will that 660@ 450mw be brighter to the eye than 200mw of 635?

what computer programs say and what you see in real life are very different

stand in a dark room filled with smoke and scan 40mw of 635 and 200mw of 660. im pretty sure i know which one would look brighter.

but hey thats just my view

hmm. Anyone have any idea what would be a good driver to use for such a low current diode? 40mW of 635 is.. -- well lets say my 25mW of 633 is QUITE bright. This should be.. nice.

He is not a regular laserdiode seller. Looks more like bulk buyer of electronic and optical stuff. I just made a deal for $22,50 including shipment.

I want to try with a mini-LM317 in a penhost.

I am using a lm317 driver with smt components 2 AAA sized lithium batteries and a pen host

~ size on a nickle should fit no prob in the pen maybe even in the aixiz and will provide a stable 100ma. I even fit some decent capacitance on there .1uf on IN and OUT and 22uf on the OUT with reverse diode protection.
