It is true, that we often push diodes to twice their rated output.

My thoughts exactly. As with the 635's from Phi's GB, I'll be running this at the current it says to run it at, which is 100mA.

Now, I need to find a nice pen host for this.

Yea those would be nice. You could also get a jayrob host strip and polish it that could be fun. What driver were you going to use?

Got mine the same day now I just have to decide what i want to put it in. The last one was a nice pen host with a LM337 driver now I have to decide what to do with this one. Right now I think I will put it in an adjustable host so i can play around a little.

What is your setup? I was thinking of pressing it into an Aixiz module and then pen host. Do these things generate heat @ 100mA?

Got mine today, now let's see if a green fleabay pen can be cannibalized for a host....
Too bad I'm out of modules for the diode itself at the moment.

Well, the driver from the green, I thought. It's negative side, close to voltage of IR, just need to
turn down the current a little, no?
