Anyone got a good current for driving these? Maybe 110 - 130mA? Thouigh I'm more interested in 40mW of real 638 than pushing that to say, 60mW of 645.

May try putting one of these in a Jayrob 18650 kit.. Overkill? Sure...

Probably not a bad idea but remember to isolate the diode form the battery unless you are using a low side driver.

R.I.P my diode. Guess I have to practice press-fitting more. Broke one of the pins.

What pin 2 do not matter? So if you broke the case or the PD pin you still win

Aw come on. Really? I thought all was lost, so I pressed it out of the heatsink again and crushed it in the process.

^ yea really looking straight at it with the case pin on the right hand side you can get away with breaking the case and the pin below it.

I could swear that my diode was connected this way and it works. The pinout in the spec. form is from topview.

Some 635nm and 660 are case negative but this particular diode is case LD+. Trust me I spent a crap ton of time working out a new driver for it after deciding not to isolate the case.

Okay, I change the picture.

I am gonna recheck the 635nm laser in the future. The Sentorch host isolates the battery compartment and the module compartment. Somehow my laser works. :D

A lot of the 7mw are case ld- but this paticular diode is case+ check the data sheet on the first page

I just asked him if he's gonna relist the diode, this was the answer:

"I don't think so but I am still looking around. If I do I will let you
know."
