Re: 300mw LOC hotlight!

Yeh that was a typo.. fixed it now :D its not a 1.3a driver, i was just typing this up late at night, i got jib to change the resistors for me and he even soldered the wires on :)

Btw bobhaha whats the problem with your hotlight? with mine i made the clicky sit lower then the pill so now the battery just squeezes between the clicky and side of the host, i used a lot of superglue aswell so it doesnt get pushed up, i also sanded the clicky down a bit to get the battery to squeeze through, its fits really snugly now and it doesnt rattle at all, the driver also fits inside the shortened and opened up pill with all the wires

Ive got a a-140 diode on its way so my other hotlight is going to be the same except a different diode, an o-like lens and 1.3a driver

@ anselm, i kind of forgot what i connected what to but i "think" that i connected the case pin to the v- of the driver, cant remember

Thanks for the kind words everyone :)

EDIT: Bobhaha, i was looking at your rayfoss green build and it seems you've got a thermaltake v9 gaming case :D you play any pc games?

Yeah, I used to. Not much time now days... GF, uni and job takes up most of my time :/

OK so i finally got time to finish my little hotlight, i wasted 1 hours soldering 4 wires because my soldering iron is so bad that it hardly holds solder on the tip...

Man, just get those "3rd hand" holders?

You will never need to put soldering on the tip, if you want, I will show you the easiest way to solder ( I can record video), that kind of laser build with ready heatsink and everything takes me less then 30 min. Otherwise if you want to use solder on the tip, scrub the tip with a knife (you won't be needing) until the tip is shiny (kind of). It will melt faster too that way, but if you have that tool I showed you now, you will figure out the best way for you easily :p :tinfoil:

Some Questions :) : is that the open can diode? Are you burning the cd case with focused beam or line? And does the lens make noticeable difference from a normal aixiz lense? I mean I made one of those, really nice diode, but the potenciometer was fucked up so I put a random one with I think too much resistance and it is bright and burns but it has to focused even for a cutting black tape? So I am asking is yours like that or I have to put another potenciometer?

My LOC is also running in a hotlight with a Jib driver. Unfortunately, I had to mod the jib driver myself, so I am stuck with only 381mA (the resistors I had on me at the time). But my build uses two 10440s because my protected 16340s wouldn't want to fit in my build. But essentially the same thing :D

Damn drivers :D I should start make those myself probably :)
