it looks like there could be a regular diode in there. It's hard to tell from the pictures. Also, what does the other diode in the sled look like? That could be the IR diode. Even if it is a 'weird' diode, I would love to do some tests on it.

im not at home so i dont have the tools to take the diode out of the heatsink
and there are no other diodes in the sled, unless this is it

I can't see crap...

I'm very interested in results. someone with a lathe and a power meter needs to man up and buy one of these things.

ill send it to someone
or trade with someone
possibly for a flexdrive, or an lpc or the closed can red from a 6x sled, or even a phr

Post bigger pics, and i could trade a long closed can from the 6x sled ;)

the first pic looks very sexy... 2nd and 3rd give more disappointment though (to being a round 5.6mm diode)

yep, as you can see from the third one, there are three pins in a line with about 2 mm spacing between them

in the middle of harvesting mine. definitely not a round 5.6mm diode, it's square.....

Lol wut?
Fail diode :D

Well, if we find a housing for these, they could be worth it...
You have an LPM right?
If you want, send it to me, and i will do some testing...

NastyNic and Mohrenberg,
thanks for taking one for the team on these. It is really too bad that they are not a 5.6mm can, but I'm sure that it won't take long for one of the "mad scientists" on the forum to figure out an easy way to use these.

I am still very interested to see just what they are capable of.

Thanks again guys.[smiley=thumbsup.gif]

well, i simple "tested" it at 150mA to find out which pins were for red, IR, and GD, and after that i shot 609mA into and it died instantly.
which sucks cause i've had 900mA go into a LOC for about 30 seconds before it died.

the way the diode is shaped, it could simply be glued into the aixiz module and work fine, there is a lip on the sides of it that catch on the aixiz module, so when you stick it into the module it basicly "sits" in place right where it should be...you could then glue it to the module........but the heatsinking would prob be crap.....

i don't have a LPM so i don't expect to buy another one untill someone with a LPM can properly test it to see what it's capable of.......
when that happens i'll prob buy a couple more and make pointers out of them.
