Last night I was playing with my 200mW Sentorch and it hits accidentilly a mirror on 5meter ( 15feet). The laser was collimated perfectly and the dot hits back to my laser just on the lens. The lost in power was noticed instantly. It was fainter than my 10mW 635nm.
I checked maybe the battery coincidentally running empty but it was de diode. I am not so crazy to get an axe and smash on it  but I dismantled it completely. RIP

ps. I did take precaution when playing with lasers. Better the diode than the eye.

The host is still ok. It has a massive brass heatsink, any 5.6mm diode will fit.
I think it was the Sony 16x SLD1239JL diode, Red laser - Laser Wiki

I measure the driver output and it was set on 250mA, but anything is possible between 50mA-300mA by turning the pot.

Look around for a LPC sled. It holds a Long Open Can diode you can push to 300mW. Or a safe life at 250mW.
