Surely you can find a relatively local source?

Google gives me lots of hits when looking up "Malaysia aluminum rod"

Seems like it'd just be a matter of calling people and seeing who will sell/ship in small quantities.

And what Kevlar said heh. I forgot about machine shops. They'll know where to source aluminum rod, and pretty much any other common metal as well.
