The green lasers we are all used to here do not have a "green diode"

They use a powerful Infrared diode to pump a solid state crystal that doubles the frequency to produce green.

You need to get a Housing Module for your Laser Diode like Billg519 linked
to above (or similar or have one made)...
This will act as a heatsink for the Laser Diode..

You will also need to HeatSink the LM317 TO-220 Driver to keep it cool..

If you want to but Green Laser Modules... you can have a look at O-Like
and RayFoss...:cool:

You can ACTUALLY see the beam for any visible colored laser its just how clear it is. You can probably see a 1W red laser's beam and it would be as powerful as a 300mW green because your eye is more sensitive to green. Buy a module from O-like. Get a 50mW module because its cheap and the output power is pretty strong

the 50mW can sorta burn black plastic but you have to hold it very still and it will melt it a little. If you get a 100mW one, it will start to smoke. If you get a 200mW, then it can cut electrical tape in around 30 seconds

The formula for the LM317 resistor is 1.25/desired_current. For 420 mA, R = 1.25/0.420 = 2.976 ohms. A 3 ohm would do, or 3 x 1 ohm in series.

Diode? Not even an option for you. You want DPSS, and one of the "best" ~200mw green modules will probably come from 0-like or such.

Ya sorry about the editing thing iam kinda new at this. thoes pictures of the diode housing for sale there 12mm x 30mm would my 808nm or i think it 9mm diode fit into those? I guess there adjustable?
