Hi all, I am a newbie to laser field. Currently I am doing a laser based engraving project for my university course where I have to use the laser to engrave words on woods.

I have did some research and bought a LPC-826 laser diode alongside with a module for 5.6mm diameter.

After installing the laser diode into the module and tested with a laser driver circuit I build on my own and began the testing it seems that the laser beam produced is not focused AT ALL.

I am wondering whether did I broke my laser diode or the lens is not good. I learnt to install the diode through some of the youtube video so I don't think it's the installation process error. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

To me it seems like you lens or your diode window is dirty.

Try checking if those are clean. The smallest dusts and dirt can have a very big effect.

If they are both clean your diode may be gone. But first things first :)
