I watched a few videos on youtube of the time tunnel effect.

There was even a video on how to build the thing he used to make it.

However, he didn't really explain some stuff.

Is there a pictorial guide anywhere? If not, I'll try to make one when I do it.

There really isn't much to explain.. You have a mirror on the shaft of a small motor, the mirror is at a slight angle so that when the motor turns it, the beam is projected in a circle. It can be done as simply as sticking a small piece of mirror onto a fan and shining your laser on it.
Be sure to use goggles with this project.. when working with mirrors you never know where the beam is going to go.
If you still had trouble understanding the idea, I will draw a quick diagram for you..

Seb

EDIT: Here is a diagram of it. In case 3, the projection on the wall will be a hollow circle, like this: O
In the diagram, the tunnel (btw, it's just Tunnel, not Time Tunnel) is seen as a cone from the side, but if you look at it from the inside it will be hollow, like the cicle on the wall - like a tunnel.
You should really try this out, especially with some smoke in the air to visualise the tunnel well.

Another neat experiment is a spiro. A spiro is basically two or more tunnels combined - you place the mirrors close together so that the first mirror projects the circle onto the second mirror, and if you are using more mirrors, the second projects onto the third, etc. That will create some cool patterns on the wall, and with enough smoke, in the air too!
If you add some speed controllers for the motors, you can change the patterns in all sorts of fascinating ways!
Tip: For a cool swirling effect in the tunnel, mix thick smoke with clean air, rather than making all the air as smoky.

Seb

lasers do nothing to time, they dont change it in any way shape or form... its called a tunnel effect not a time tunnel

Haha thanks anyway Dave, you don't need to give me rep for a basic little diagram like that :)

True Andy, as I posted: "(btw, it's just Tunnel, not Time Tunnel)"
I guess people think it's a Time Tunnel rather than just a tunnel because they imagine a portal or time machine or something like that to send out bursts of light. Who knows? Anyway, just Tunnel is correct..

I rarely rep for "work." I mostly rep for creativity, helping others and concern for the community. This "little diagram" definitely qualifies.

Awesome man! :] I thought it was that easy, but IDK. The video was a little confusing haha. Thanks so much.

I have a "vibrate" thing from the inside of a game controller. I've hooked it up to an AC adapter before, to see if it would work. It DID spin pretty fast though. Is there a way the mirror could spin too quickly?

And I saw it as both "time tunnel" and just "tunnel". I picked time tunnel because it sounds so much cooler hahaha.

Also - smoke in the air eh ;) CAN DO. Hahah.

I think the name "TIME TUNNEL" came from the old TV show of that name. The program started with 2 or 3 people running up a ramp & diving into a "TIME TUNNEL" that sorta looks like the laser tunnel effect, & they wind up landing some place in the past or future for adventures. Am I the only one old enough to remember that TV show ?? GADS I MUST be old. Now, where did I leave my cane ??? LOL....rob

I turn off the AC and any ceiling fans to get the most from the fog machine- also if using a PC cooling fan(not reversable) to mount a mirror for tunnel or spiro -cut the fan blades off,You dont need them and they tend to dissipate your fog/smoke. Good advice about protecting your eyes too from Jaseth. Fast spinning is OK but you will enjoy the effect of being able to slow it down almost to a stop and being able to reverse it is cool as well. Small DC motors are inside most everything (it seems) just found a thrown-away defective vcr/dvd player that had 3 or 4 inside of it. enjoy--hak--<(*v*)>

Not true, I've gone back in time several times with my laser. Once I went back to the Cretaceous period, punched a dinosaur in the face then came back here. It was pretty epic.

So, there's not time travel possible with a time tunnel? There goes my plan to take over the world:(
