It's nice to know how the pro's handle optics, even if most of us do our work in a Garage and not lab

I would think than that you would scream in horror with the way some optics are handled by some of us

I try to do my best handling optics but even I have had the...pick up with tweezers, slip, break edge off optics

So i just cleaned my 405-g-1 lens with some 91% isopropyl alcohol, wet a q-tip put on glass, spin, and repeated with a dry q-tip one time each. worked perfect. I had a BIG spot on my g-1 and now, all better.

AR coating survived to!

I don't have a lab like the university myself, so I'm not that precise, but with more expensive optics like cavity mirrors or crystals I'm carefull enough no to open them in my room, way too much dust. I don't have any pure isopropanol or acetone (and definately not 99,995% pure as over there), but I use lens paper when possible to avoid scratches and I have some lens cleaning fluid.
I know the professor at the university, and he gave me access to the lab for my personal laser stuff, pretty nice. I currently have my 355nm yag over there.
