Can the PBS form a ps3 sled be used with two LOC diodes?
If so, I am aiming for about 480 mW with 250 mW each.
Is this "to hot" for the PBS? Is there any limit?

Also, just to make sure; but the way the picture shows is how a pbs works?

I don't know if the PS3 cubes are coated for red, but one of them probably is. Yes, you can use it if it is coated for red. Your diagram is basically right, except that in order for the beams to combine, they must be at 90 deg. angles in terms of polarisation. You just take the first diode, run it through the PBS and rotate it until maximum power passes through, then you take your second diode and place it so that the output enters the next face of the cube (just like in your diagram) and rotate it until maximum power passes through the cube. Once you have minimal losses for each laser, then you can fine tune the alignment into one beam. Make sure once you have minimal losses that you avoid rotating either diode again during alignment or it will mess things up.

Actually I believe that the cubes from the PS3 sled (although I've never had any) are not polarized. Why? Because different wavelengths are combined, so it should be a dichroic cube.
Please, if someone tested this, then prove me wrong! It's just an idea.

So they can be used to combine colors?

That's what it's designed for. Why would you need a cube to combine two lasers of the same wavelength, when there's only one of each wavelength in the PS3 sled?
Also, I don't know about you, but I really would rather have a red/violet laser combined then two reds combined. I've seen the color before in person, and it is a bright "pink" color. Either way just make sure you get alignment right.

Jimmy's most likely correct, since I don't really use sled cubes i'm not an expert.. If you're looking for a decent true PBS cube for red, laser-wave sells some very nice ones for not a lot of money.. 10mm cube for $25 I believe.. Much easier to work with since the beam diameter of those red diodes in an aixiz module is fairly large.

i've really been debating this alot lately, and playing with sled cubes, i may run over to laser-wave and pick one up....and i regret not grabbing one from "the box" cause i think there were some...

but i've REALLY been wantingto build a pink hand held laser lately...

If you're going for pink you want a dichroic cube or filter (also known simply as a dichro).. You can get one from laser-wave that works with red and blue (which will work quite well with blu-rays), or there is one in some blu-ray sleds that can combine red and blu-ray. These would be ideal if you have one, but once again you run into the size issue. The laser-wave dichros will be larger and much easier to work with.
