I have a couple of nice lasers but I want to make the beams skinny and straight to burn and a long long distance. The dragon is a one watt 445nm sparten. They no longer make an expander for these. I have a two point five watt 930nmir with focus ring. I wonder if youcan make that one go trueandstraight for along distance. The other is a nice compact green with fixed focus. Nice beam but want to make thinner and straighter and burn at long distance

Define long distance. Define skinny. Don't bother with straight I know what that is.

I like'em skinny, but I don't care if she is straight or not.

Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to do that. Divergence is proportional to wavelength and inversely proportional to the beam size at the narrowest point (usually aperture). The end result is that the narrower you try to make the beam, the greater the divergence. The beam expanders can keep the beam straight for far greater distances, but at the cost of an expanded beam.

It also doesn't help that your 930nm laser has a longer wavelength, and that the 445nm laser has crummy beamspecs in the shape of a bar. So good luck with either.

I want to extend the burning distace on the blue one and the green one. Can you straighten it more or setthe focus way away the blue will burn to about nine feet befor it diverges. The green only burns a few inches away from the aperture. The ir burns up to four feet away.

There are only two ways to do that.
The first is to focus the beam with a beam expander

Secondly increasing the power substantially.

If you have some cheap binoculars with glass lenses (cheap because you may ruin the coatings on the lenses, glass lenses because, well, because), you can look through those at something far away or a point like a star, focus it nice and sharp, and you've got a beam expander.

amirite? amirite?
