Default Recommendations for beam correction.

Hi all,
looking for some help here.

i need to correct the beam on my mitsu red diode for a projector build.
looking for something efficient.
also need a set for my 445nm.

I see a lot of people using anamorphic prisms and others using cylindrical lenses.

-Nick

Both of the optical corrections you've mentioned are good. Do you have space constraints?

It's good to find someone close living so close to me.

yes space is a concern. i need something that corrects within a couple of inches. im currently using two surplus lenses but they take to much space are far to inefficient to use in a projector setup.

that barrel one isn't bad if your tight on space. The anamorphic prisms need to be at right angles, but you can use tiny ones.

Default Re: Recommendations for beam correction.

Those 638nm lasers are hard to tame. You could try using some of those anamorphic prism pairs on eBay, but they don't really correct the divergence, which is the real problem. For the cylindrical lenses, you'll need to run some measurements and then some calculations to see what focal lengths you need. Often what you need is not what is available (especially on eBay), or not cheap. So you might have to make some compromises.

As those laser diodes are so much more powerful and bright, a cheap solution is to simply use a lens that chops off the sides of the beam. It still doesn't prevent the beam from diverging, but it gives it more distance before it becomes noticeable. If you want to try one of those lenses, message Lazeerer and see if he has any to sell.
