Question about optics, I don't trust Hans.

Hey guys I was wondering if in Hansolo777's design would it have worked if he put it thru a beam expander. One that had been adjusted to take the incoming light at the same angle as the incoming light from the double convex lens. So that when you flip the beam expander around it would focus it into one beam. Or does a beam expander not work like that? It seems to me I am thinking of optics like Hansolo and that is scaring me I don't want to be someone who doesn't know what they are talking about, yet thinks they are an expert. Which by the way I'm not just a chemistry major who loves lasers.

I think you 2 should hook up and do some experimenting, then come back and let us know the results.

But only one of you come back and let us know the out come.

??? Sorry I don't get it...I'm kind of slow when it comes to social skills so I don't exactly understand what you mean can you say it in a different way...please I would much appreciate it.

It doesn't work that way.

I'm sure that if you or he figure out how to do this, that there is a PhD available for you. Of course you will have to take all those other classes that will teach you that it cannot be done, but hey: Such is the price of genius, right?

Heck. There might even be a Nobel awarded for this advancement.

I just wanted to know if it is possible to combine 5 parallel beams into one beam within a foot. I honestly don't know and would like to know if it's possible for under $1000 dollars or even $750. I just saw a 1 Watt 405nm laser for $1000 and want a much cheaper alternative. I just thought the four beams into 1 double convex lens had some merit past that I don't think it does. I just wanted to know what kind of optics would have to be used to combine them into one beam. Does anyone know or would a auto focusing system from a camera work? Or do I need more perfect lenses like a plaino convex lens work? I have so many questions like how does each lens effect light that passes through it...I'm a visual person I need pics and can't find any...where could I find some.

You and he have been told multiple times that it cannot be done. If you want to do this, you are going to have to learn enough about lasers and optics to prove the learned scholars wrong.

You will not learn enough in a couple of pictures, videos, and/or posting to move beyond conventional science.

What?! Really or was that a joke? A noble prize did someone get one for it already? like I said so many questions. Daguin do you know how it could be done because I would like to know so I don't waste alot of money trying to figure out it is impossible...I have $500 bucks to spend and I want a really powerful laser so I can see it's affect on different materials and composites.

Okay so it's impossible even using beam splitters? I thought you could use beam splitters to combine beams. Daguin it seems you have a lot of knowledge in the field and I would be honored to learn more from you. Do you have some threads that can point me in the right direction?

Are there any diodes that can be combined to make 1 Watt for $500 or will I have to save up for the OEM?

There is a method known as "knife-edge" combining using thin first-surface mirrors, but since I've never done it myself, I can't say exactly how it's done..

Here's a pic of a system (not mine) that utilizes knife-edge combining to combine 24 diodes:

perhaps close examination will help you see how it's done..

Wow I wish a picture would show me the secrets but I'm not that smart. Anyways thanks for the picture I will have to look into it.
I will see if anyone near here knows how it's done maybe one of my old profs. can tell me of some one who uses that technique.

Too funny. The 1st guy, touting Elder Futhark et al, grew tired of his lost time prodding so many folks here, now comes this alter ego touting Asatru. Not extremely creative, but humorous.

So, here we go again. Someone ought to start a poll in that section to guess how many LPF members will keep feeding this person.
