Question about 405-G-1 Lenses

I was wondering what the max. power rating is for the 405-G-1 or G-2 with 445nm laser beams. Would they be able to withstand say 5W, 10W, 15W, or even higher power outputs? Without losing to much power due to distortion or cutting of the lens.
Also if it can withstand those levels, what is the best way to turn the - or + into a •?

Im sure there is a limit, one of the better informed members will instruct you more than i can, however i'm not sure what would happen to the beam shape.

The glass lens can handle >10 Watts without any problem.

The AR coating would be the first part to be damaged at much higher powers.

Thanks Larry

Second set of questions, in the way of beam splitters could one combine 3 diodes with 2 beam splitter cubes?
If not why?
If so what is the highest output a 10mm or 20mm cube could take from a diode?

Using a polarizing beamsplitter you can combine 2 lasers, but for more you'd need something like a knife edge setup, that's just putting them close enough to eachother in a special setup that they appear as one. Unless you ahve different wavelengths, then dichroic filters can be used.
The damage threshold of a beamsplitter is probably pretty high, I wouldn't worry about it if you only have a few watts.

I have heard that the 445 glass is better than the 405G-1 for beam quality but the 405 lens gives more power

^ What is that supposed to mean Toaster? That is utterly useless information. Where did you, 'hear', this little gem? Any links? What 445 glass; what 405 glass? Explain what you mean by beam quality?

You are starting to contribute more but if you have nothing specific to add then don't post. If you can't answer the questions I've asked then you don't know enough about it. If you can then you should have posted the links as well to back your information.

The problem is Toaster was referring to the overall integrity of the dot. Yes, I have seen reviews where they compared the dots and power from each and what they found is what you posted. However, OP was more referring to the amount of power the lenses could withstand, not so much about the dot. Whether or not the lens makes it look better was not in question.....with that said, a link to a comparison of the two is >here<

Yeah man, it was on Jayrobs lens compare test. Check it. Just telling him. It sorta was useful so yeah.

With respect, I am aware the OPs question had already been answered and therefore any post was pretty much redundant. I know the difference between the lenses we use on here pretty well but I'm not sure Toaster does and this meant the post was not that helpful regardless of the OPs question, and that's what I was addressing. To be much more helpful, the link you have now provided should have been posted. Even if it was the answer to the wrong question.

It's easy to say, "Yeah, that's what I meant", after the fact. I'm sure that is what you meant but you offered no real advice or useful information and therefore it was a useless post.

As I have pointed out, you seem to be, 'getting it', a little better and that's a credit to you but you still have a long way to go. You need to have a good understanding of things before you can give advice to others. Something I still think you are lacking. This isn't a chat room, it's a science based forum. This is guidance, not an attack.

Youre the only one that doesn't use it as a chatroom, =P that was the whole reason not to have a self lock ability. I tried. And not to sound rude, I don't need a person tell me how to talk on a public forum. No hate intended, just saying. I don't need a mom or anyone to give me status update on how "Good" I am.

Thanks, Kind regards!

Noone here is "telling" you what to do. We are telling you how you are expected to act. If you can't do that you will get flamed and eventually banned.

As Dave likes to say, the forum is not going to change for you. If you continue with that "you guys can't tell me what to do, I do whatever I want" attitude you will not last long.

Just a warning, there have been several before you with your attitude that have been booted...

^I'm really glad to hear that. I gave you praise when I thought I saw a turnaround but if I was mistaken then this momma is gonna be on your back all the way making sure the information and advice you give out is correct and accurate. Expect corrections. TJ may be taking a back seat, (he!!, he deserves the rest), and he could do the work of ten in this field, but I'm sure there are ten who, collectively, can do the work of TJ.

On this forum you NEED to be clear, you NEED to be useful and somewhat knowledgeable at the very least, and you NEED to be respected by those around you. Without these things your words will mean nothing. Whatever you try to say.

Typically, the ones who think they don't need some element of control are the ones that need it most.

This is not a chatroom. Full stop. Not my rules, it's just the way it is.
