After cleaning the lens with 91% isopropyl (alcohol ) I let it dry. Then I put some 100% distilled water in a clean tissue and wrap the lens again. It is like two-stage cleaning.
It works great for me. The lens is really spotless.

ok this is getting really frustrating...every time i try to clean it theres always some spots i missed...is there any harm in leaving them or does it need to be spotless[/ATTACH][/ATTACH]....the diode window is clean its just the g1 lens here are some pics...the 1st two are unfocused beam and the third is the focused dot...please help this is very frustrating

I'd be inclined to say that some of your artifacts are coming from the diode window. When you turn the lens but hold the laser still, do the dots spin around in a circle or do they stay still but defocus?

when i take the lens off and light up just the diode window its perfectly clean.....the spots turn with the lens also..there not solid black spots the like round blue blotches

Dang maybe it's just me but that looks prety darn good. Small pics though..

i cant get it in pictures with my phone:cryyy:....in the unfocused horizontal pic you can see 1 blotch on the left side..theres probably 20 or so..its not black shadows its blue circles with shaded (not blacked out) edges...everytime i try to clean it is crazy,sometimes it puts more crap on and sometimes its less crap but still noticeable like

---0-------0----0----0-
0---0--0-----------0-

in the punfocused projection....will that cause damage

edit. also in the vertical pic you can see the blotches in the top of the projection

That is a very dirty lense.. hehe.. I would try using the distiled water after the 91% or get a better quality alcohol. I think it's too late for my lense I tried cleaning it once and it didnt get any better and mine turn with the lense too so it's not on the diode window. Ooo that's not true it looks prety bad on the diode window now too.. lol That is a 405 so6j and a G2..

i had the laser on for 5 min total and burned for 1 min....do you think its still cleanable? or does the debris get burnt on the lens....how do people get these clean? ive tried canned air,lens cleaner,micro fiber colth,alcohol, everything ive read to use....should i soak the lense in alcohol for 10-20 min


edit:also has it affected anything that youve noticed...decrease power etc...

Well you gave me some incentive to clean that G2. All I did was rub it with a soft lint free cloth that came with my laserglow OD 7+ and it's alot nicer.. still some spots and the diode spots are still there (didnt try to clean that) but it is alot better probably a soak first would have taken it all off). My house is allmost 100 yrs old and there is alot of dust here so it's tough for me to keep them all cleaned up and all I have for alcohol is 95% ethanol I used in a lab tool sterilizer and it doesnt seem to clean well at all.

can you tell any difference? i wonder how much it really affects the output.... so you think if i get 99% alcohol it will work better? i assume since you havnt cleaned in a while that the debris wont get "burnt" in the lens...

Have you tried Acetone, that works lots of times when alcohol will not.
