Hello all,

I'm new with lasers in general and I just received my Kentorch Dorcy Jr. today.
I know how to focus it... turn the dial (duh). I am just wondering if anybody has any tips for focusing it. Such as is there a certain distance I should have it when focusing it for far compared to near. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

For focusing near and for the best burning unscrew the lens to where its almost falling out, then the focus point will be about 1-2 inch away and it will be a tiny pinprick dot that will burn everything in sight.

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

Very nice, that worked well. Now does anybody have any tips for focusing for a distance. I have been trying to focus it for about 20 to 25 feet but all I get is a dot the size of an inch or two in diameter.

Thanks

If you want to burn stuff at 25 feet away, bad news. You can't get a small enough waist size with that tiny beam diameter and tiny colimator lens that far out of the aperture to be able to burn with ~150mW.Your best bet is to focus it for best divergence and maybe you'll be able to pop black baloons and slowly cut black electrical tape, but forget about matches and smoking stuff.... :p
