I wouldn't call >$100 cheap. Sanwu makes some for $55. Might be a deal if you need a very large one though.

Yes, Sanwu does, but it's only a 3x expansion and it's unknown if the optics are made for specific wavelengths. The price is equal to the Jet lasers expander. And if you want this expander and live in the states you can order one and receive it in a few days.
And if you decide you don't like it or needs to be returned for some reason, it can be at a much lower cost than one would spend sending it back to China.

Does it fit on most laser though?
Not without some type of mount specific to the type of lasers we all own. But a simple mount could be constructed I think with a few tools some of us have access to. Remember no expander fits most lasers.

All of them are made for either 355nm, UV, 532nm or 1064 YAG. It doesn't cover much of what we use here. I would expect them to be of good quality, but when was the last time you needed a 355nm or a 1064nm beam expander?

True. Looking at the schematic it seems at least one of the optical elements can be swapped with an optical element suitable for a particular wavelength.
The green expander would work with 520nm. I suspect the 355nm would work at 405nm. If Edmund was using UV optics the expander would be expensive.

That was my thought as well, but I'd check with Edmund first before just making that assumption. I have doubts about the expander for 355nm being compatible with a 405nm laser.

Hi guys,

Reading this thread made me try to remember if Beam expanders I have (3x Sanwu and 10x Jetlasers) have ARC coating as well.

On Jetlasers page specs say it is Broadband (335-1100nm) and indeed the lens shines yellow when I look at it.

On Sanwu web I did not find any info and the lens does not have coloured reflexion.
Does it mean that no ARC coating on Sanwu? Does anyone know?

Red, once you posted that NUBM44 burns further through Sanwu G-2 +Sanwu BE than without it...

Question, extremely broadband AR coatings are yellow appearing?

Maybe this is the reason. Indeed, Sanwu BE lens reflects a liitle greenish, so I am not sure if it is ARC or just a protective coating. And Jetlasers BE looks very strongly yellow, but it might be because ARC is as you suggest ultra broadband.
I remember blue/violet looking ARC optics, but that might be old technology which reflected some blue away.

Anyway optics of my Canon IS binoculars looks greenish, too. So it might be that BB ARC in visible area has to look greenish.
